Health Minute: Wound Care

With all injuries and health concerns, be sure to discuss treatment options with your medical professional.

Remember with any minor wound that draws blood, remove the dressing every day, gently wash and dry the wound, then use a small amount of ointment like Neosporin before re-applying the bandage.

With any joint problem or bruise, remember I.C.E.

Ice for 15 minutes, rest for 15 minutes, then ice for another 15 minutes

Compression. Wrap the joint snuggly, but not too tight. Make sure you restrict movement a little but not enough to cut off circulation.

Elevation. As much as you can, keep the injured area higher than your heart.
